I had the pleasure of staying here just two weeks ago and it more than exceeded my expectations. Although I was travelling on my own at the time, on business, the host treated me as somebody who was on holiday. You certainly could be on holiday within such lovely grounds and surroundings.
Everything you could want from polite and genuine service, beautiful rooms, fantastic food and that little extra like wine and cheese at five. The country breakfast was bang on with fresh eggs, homemade preserves and all the usual trimmings, fresh coffee and tea for me.
Bedding and rooms were immaculate. No stale odour you get from typical hotel beds.
One thing that will mean I remember the stay so much was not just that the linen was quality – it was the smell of the soap powder that made me think of my mum’s washing at home.
I will definitely visit again, if only for the breakfast and that lovely comfortable bed.
