After recent flooding and cyclones devastated homes and businesses across the North Island, GrabOne is providing a win-win way for shoppers to ‘support local’ and give an immediate cash injection to businesses to help them rebuild.

GrabOne’s ‘Businesses in Need’ campaign, allows shoppers from around Aotearoa find and purchase offers from affected providers by way of a voucher or donation.

“In essence it means the shopper walks away with a great deal, while instrumentally helping local businesses get back on their feet at the same time. This is a callout for all affected businesses to get in touch,” says GrabOne Chief Customer Officer and NZ Country Manager Belinda Lush.

Businesses will receive immediate funds, with customers committing to a straight donation or to redeem or gift the service at a later date when the business resumes operation. Affected businesses will also receive complimentary listing and a free advertising package on GrabOne’s extensive network reaching as many as 50,000 Kiwis a day.

“Small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities, and it’s only right we support them in the immediate and the future.

“In the aftermath of the recent flooding and Cyclone Gabrielle, our hearts go out to all those who have suffered losses and are now on a long road to recovery,” says Belinda.

“At GrabOne, we’re determined to help small businesses and community organisations affected by recent events get back up and running by allowing them to list their products, services, or fundraising efforts on GrabOne for free. We are also giving our customers a way to directly support their much-loved local businesses that are struggling right now.”

Businesses affected by recent weather can choose to promote their business and drive traffic directing to their own website via the GrabOne platform; promote their Givealittle crowdfunding campaign; or set up a GrabOne offer where customers can purchase vouchers at $25 increments to be used at that business anytime in 2023.

“It would be ludicrous to proceed with business as usual in affected areas, so our aim is to do something good for the many businesses who are still dealing with critical clean-up,” says Grant Arnott, Managing Director of GrabOne’s parent company Global Marketplace.

“We are working closely with our partners to ensure the vouchers offer flexible dates and cancellation terms. We truly hope that Kiwis get behind this initiative and boost businesses in need,” says Arnott.
